Countries around the world will be facing significant challenges relating not only to the environment, but population and education as well. What problems will your country face in the next ten years? How can these problems be overcome? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

In China, their population is getting older and older; in the USA, there are various political conflicts; in Europe,

countries

are in a war crisis. No matter in Asia or Western

countries

, they have to take up many challenges in the

next

decade.

Taiwan

will not be an exceptional case. In the following, I will discuss the challenge

Taiwan

will face and how to deal with it.

In the

next

decade, the

energy

problem

will be a serious challenge to my

country

,

Taiwan

. The issue is that there is no reliable and environmentally friendly

energy

resource. In

Taiwan

,

energy

supply primarily comes from burning fossil fuels, which provide more than sixty per cent of electric

energy

.

However

,

this

source of

energy

causes a serious

problem

to the environment, particularly air pollution. In the process of

energy

production, greenhouse gases and toxic substances will be released into the air. Another

energy

source is nuclear

power

. Yet, many scientists and engineers have safety concerns about nuclear

power

. Especially,

Taiwan

is an island

country

similar to Japan. They worry that there will be nuclear accidents occurring in

Taiwan

as well as Japan.

Then

, how can we deal with

this

problem

? One way is to develop a new and sustainable

energy

source. Apart from burning fuels and nuclear

power

, there are many other

energy

sources,

such

as solar

power

and wind

power

. These

power

sources are safe and less detrimental to the environment. And they have become more common in Europe

countries

.

Taiwan

governments may learn from these

countries

by purchasing their technique and

then

developing their own. The

second

way is to use the

energy

more efficiently. More specifically, the government should encourage factories and individuals only use electric

energy

for necessary purposes. For doing so, governments may increase the electric prices or through education.

This

proposal may not resolve the

problem

entirely but can ease it.

In short, an essential difficulty in my

country

is the

energy

problem

, the lack of reliable and sustainable

energy

resources. To address

this

issue, I suggest the government explore new

energy

resources and manage the

country

_s

energy

usage more efficiently.
